Serie A round-up: On the spot

Week 10 was about penalties, both those awarded and denied, as Susy Campanale notes Roma, Inter and Juventus were grateful to the referee

No doubt some Juventus fans will start calling for a ban for simulation to match that of Milos Krasic, but that would be ridiculously unfair. Eto’o was not fouled, but he did not dive either. The fact remains, it was a let-off for the Nerazzurri who rarely seemed to trouble Brescia before that breakthrough. Evidently there is more to their current form than a phobia of Gareth Bale.

Juventus were trailing to minnows too, but got back into the game with Cesena thanks to a penalty and soon after a red card. Max Pellegrino was the guilty party in both incidents, though Coach Massimo Ficcadenti feels “Leonardo Bonucci held his shirt first. It was a totally invented penalty and it proved decisive for the match.” Nonetheless, the Bianconeri were able to continue their ascent despite an injury crisis of apocalyptic proportions.
