Alberto Aquilani says it’s his intention to honour the Juventus name and get back to being a decisive both for club and country.

The 26-year-old midfielder moved to Turin on loan from Liverpool this summer with a view to a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

He has settled in nicely with the Bianconeri, scoring his first goal against Lecce at the weekend.

Interviewed on Sky Italia, Aquilani said: “I expected myself to be decisive. That was what I wanted in returning to Italy.

“We are a new and young team. Speaking about the Scudetto now is wrong. We must honour the Juve name, which for this club means being among the top teams and doing better than last season.

“Today I don’t even know where we are in the table. We look at the table in May.

“We must keep going strong in the League: we need a string of positive results. There is the basis to do well with time.

“The results give us conviction. We need continuity for this reason. There are many decisive players here.

“It seems to me as though Del Neri is also decisive.”

Finally Aquilani was asked for his first impressions of another of Juventus’ summer signings Milos Krasic.

“I didn’t expect him to be so good. I didn’t believe he could be so devastating. We’ll pamper him and hope he lasts as long as possible.

“He comes from the Russian League and we hope he doesn’t go on a break like their League down there.”
