Fabio Quagliarella is not too disappointed at being dropped from the Euro 2012 qualifiers. “I have an ankle injury.”

The Juventus striker had been one of the regular picks for Cesare Prandelli, but was not even included in the latest squad to face Northern Ireland and Serbia.

“There isn’t much to say about the lack of a call-up. Other players were left at home too,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s only right that the Coach makes his decisions and I accept them without any problems.”

When Alberto Gilardino pulled out with an injury, Lazio’s Sergio Floccari surprisingly came in as a replacement rather than Quagliarella.

“Gilardino wasn’t in good shape, but I also have an ankle injury that I hope to definitively clear up soon.”
