Chiellini finally set for renewal

Juventus’ talismanic defender Giorgio Chiellini is finally set to put pen to paper on a new contract extension.

The Italy international’s agent Davide Lippi has been in talks with Juventus for months ironing out his terms.

Chiellini is currently one of Juventus’ lowest paid stars despite being a future captain in Turin.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands an agreement has now been reached, although a few minor details still need resolving.

The 26-year-old will sign a five-year extension worth around €4m a season.

As for Chiellini’s team-mate Claudio Marchisio, the two sides appear no closer to coming to terms.

Marchisio is asking for €3m a year, as he currently earns just €1m.

However, Juventus are said to be unwilling to go beyond €2m.
