Giorgio Chiellini believes Milan are stronger than Juventus now that they have signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Barcelona and now Robinho from Man. City.

The Italy international centre-back has been eager to play down expectations in Turin after a busy phase of reconstruction at Vinovo.

“If Ibrahimovic has the same impact at Milan as he did at Inter, he can win the Scudetto by himself.

“If Zlatan and Ronaldinho have the desire to play along with Pato they will create sparks and score a lot.

“You can’t keep up with all three together.

“We are a step down with the arrival of Ibrahimovic [at Milan], actually we’re a big step down given how tall Zlatan is.

“I like the Juventus project a lot but it’s long term. We need to be clear with the fans so as not to create the pressure that was fatal last year.

“Our objective is the Champions League places and we’ll have to suffer in certain moments.

“Since Calciopoli there has been a strong rivalry with Inter.

“Milan are further on than us. Obviously we won’t support the Rossoneri but we could never say: ‘Go Inter’ because then they’d probably win everything again.”

Nevertheless, Chiellini is optimistic about Juventus’ chances this season, despite their 1-0 defeat to Bari at the weekend.

“Everyone of us hoped for a different start, but this must not overshadow how much good we have done up till now and the progress shown in our recent encounters.

“Everyone knew that it would take time to work and consolidate the new spine of the team, but we are confident for the future,” he concluded.
