Chiellini’s new Contract

Posted on 20/07/2010

In the past month, Davide Lippi agents of Giorgio Chiellini voiced about improvement contract value for the player. The reason is quite classic, ie Giorgio impressive performances during the last two seasons and also there is interest from other teams. In the Daily Mirror and tuttomercatoweb early June 2010, Lippi said that Manchester United and Real Madrid maybe interested in Giorgio services.

“We are honoured that Giorgio is liked by clubs such as Manchester United and Real Madrid. We’ve decided not to discuss the transfer market until after the World Cup. Giorgio signed a contract with Juve two years ago when he was young, but now he has been playing for two seasons at the highest level”. he said according to the Daily Mirror and tuttomercatoweb.

Marotta respond to this diplomatically, “We are not in the UEFA Champions League”

Based on the release of Gazzeta in september 2009, Chiellini is under contract with Juve until 2013 with a value of €2m per season. When compared with the salaries of other defender in serie A, the value of this contract are spelled out smallLets take a look at Lucio and Maicon which each earn € 4.5m per season at Inter, Nesta € 4m, € 3.5m Chivu, also Juan and Mexes each € 2.25m.New value requested by the agent was quite reasonable for a player aged 26 years, ie between €3m – € 3.5m per season. A perfectly reasonable value for a player who will be the core of Juventus defence during the next decade. But amid the revolution by Andrea after the lucky number seven last season (7th in the table and 70 goals conceded), I agreed with Marotta. By not playing in the UCL, Juve have lost around €25m revenue, plus the mercato who still need more funds, this issue should only be carried out next season, at least after Giorgio bring Juve back to playing in the Champions League. Or after the most expensive defender in juve right now out of contract (read : Zebina, € 2.5M per season until June 2011).
