Wolfsburg could take Diego

Juventus and Wolfsburg are in negotiations about a swap deal between Diego and Edin Dzeko, according to German magazine Kicker.

The Bosnian striker has become one of Juve’s top transfer targets this summer, but his €30m valuation is a stumbling block.

In an attempt to reduce that fee, Juventus are hoping to offer their Brazilian fantasista as part of the deal – something Wolfsburg are apparently interested in.

The Turin giants value Diego at around €20m – €4m less than what they handed over to Werder Bremen last summer.

However, difficulties remain. Although speculation suggests that Dzeko is ready to say yes to the Turin giants, Diego is not so sure about going in the other direction.

The former Porto player is understood to have told the Bianconeri that he would only consider a return to the Bundesliga if Bayern Munich made him an offer.

Diego’s early pre-season form is also complicating matters, as he is impressing in Gigi Del Neri’s 4-4-2 system despite the fact that it shouldn’t suit his characteristics.

Wolfsburg finished eighth in the German top-flight last term and have just recently hired former England boss Steven McClaren.

They have also signed Danish centre-back Simon Kjaer from Palermo, possibly as a replacement for Andrea Barzagli given that the Italian may leave this summer.
