Diego unsure of future

Juventus enigma Diego has refused to rule out a transfer this summer after arriving back in Italy for the start of the new season.

The Bianconeri begin preparations for 2010-11 today, but the Brazilian’s future is in doubt after a coaching change in Turin.

“I don’t know if I am staying at Juventus,” he is quoted as telling autograph hunters. “I can’t say anything today.”

Diego was signed last summer from Werder Bremen for €24m and was expected to be the man to lead Juve to a title charge.

However, the club’s attempts to build the team around him failed with a 4-3-1-2 and a 4-2-3-1 system leading to the dismissal of Ciro Ferrara and the departure of replacement Alberto Zaccheroni.

New boss Gigi Del Neri has been brought in from Sampdoria and his 4-4-2 system is one which Diego may struggle to fit into.

Juventus have spent the summer trying to find buyers for the Brazilian with clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Wolfsburg all associated.
