Alex Manninger –  6.5 – Beaten as Etuhu’s effort was diverted past him off Legrottaglie. Fantastic save denied Hangeland the equaliser.

Jonathan Zebina –  7 – Danced past Davies and Etuhu before hitting an unstoppable strike for his goal.

Fabio Cannavaro –  7 – Assured as ever and came out on top in robust battle with Zamora. Experience in European competition proved priceless.

Nicola Legrottaglie –  7 – Well-taken header put his side ahead inside of 10 minutes.

Fabio Grosso –  6.5 – Fabulously struck volley was heading for the top corner before Schwarzer kept him at bay.

Claudio Marchisio –  6.5 – Attempted to spread play with cross-field passing. Only effected the game in spells.

Hasan Salihamidzic –  6 – Largely uninvolved, but may have slightly connected with Trezeguet’s strike on route to goal. Replaced by Camoranesi.

Christian Poulsen –  6 – Broke up play with niggling fouls as he contested 50-50s before being replaced by Sissoko.

Antonio Candreva –  7 – Tidy footwork provided Zebina with opportunity to score. Played across the midfield and was lively throughout.

Diego –  7 – No flashes of brilliance from the Brazilian playmaker, but a very strong display as the Brazilian made a nuisance of himself in front of Fulham’s back four. Nearly put the tie out of reach with a dipping strike in the closing stages.

David Trezeguet –  7.5 – Denied early headed goal by Schwarzer, but reacted quickly to score at the second time of asking for the third goal. Constantly looked likely to score.

Mauro Camoranesi
 – 6.5 – Replaced Salihamidzic after the interval. Chested down for Iaquinta to blast over.

Vincenzo Iaquinta –  6 – Came on in place of Trezeguet. Shot over when he should have done better.

Mohamed Sissoko –  6 – Occupied similar role to Poulsen with less than 15 minutes remaining.
