It’s good news for Juventus fans as influential defender Giorgio Chiellini’s thigh injury is not as bad as initially feared.
The versatile 25-year-old, who can play at both centre-back and left-back, picked up a knock during the 2-1 win over Fiorentina but had to stay on as the team had already made three changes.
A scan has revealed no muscle tear meaning Chiellini should be back in a week’s time, although it does mean he is likely to miss upcoming games against Fulham and Siena.
“This evening, Chiellini was subjected to magnetic resonance by Professor Carlo Faletti at the clinic Fornaca di Sessant,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
“The review has confirmed what has been highlighted by Juventus medical staff, that there are no injuries to the muscle tendon against the posterior region of the left thigh.”
Chiellini has been with Bianconeri since 2005 when he signed from Fiorentina and has 28 caps for the Azzurri, scoring two goals.
