The skipper says they took another precious step in the race for a top-four finish.

Striker Alessandro Del Piero has praised his Juventusteam-mates after watching them battle to a 2-1 win away to bitter rivals Fiorentina on Saturday.

The captain did not feature at the Franchi, but was happy to see his troops bounce back in style from a home defeat to Palermo.

“It was crucial to get back to winning ways after losing to Palermo,” he writes on his official website.

“We were all convinced it wasn’t the end of all the good things we had done in our previous games.

“In fact, we have started over to bring home three vital points. It was a difficult game, I watched it from the bench but I nonetheless ‘lived’ it with my team-mates.

“We took another precious step, because opposition is fierce and we can’t lag behind.”

Juve are still two points adrift of fourth-placed Palermo in the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League, but will now turn their focus to Thursday’s visit of Fulham in the last 16 of the Europa League.

“A tough run of games for us has started well,” said ‘Alex’.

“Now let’s carry on like this and bring on Fulham!”
