D’Agostino is still in demand

Several clubs are chasing Udinese midfielder Gaetano D’Agostino, according to his agent Franco Zavaglia.

The 27-year-old Italy international is currently out injured and while his form has dipped since last season, demand for his talent isn’t lacking.

D’Agostino was extremely close to joining Juventus last summer, but the Turin giants weren’t willing to meet Udinese’s asking price of £15m.

They then went and bought Felipe Melo from Fiorentina for £18m, leaving D’Agostino absolutely devastated.

The former Roma youngster was the subject of a great deal of interest during the January transfer window when Lazio reportedly considered making a bid.

Speaking to Tutto Mercato Web, Zavaglia said: “Gaetano now has to think about getting better. We’ll see about the future.

“Even if Pozzo said that perhaps someone will have to leave Udinese.

“There are at least three teams that want him.”

Asked if one of those teams is Napoli, Zavaglia replied: “Let’s wait a little longer. It’s premature to go into details.”
