Juventus midfielder Felipe Melo will not be leaving for Arsenal this summer, according to his agent Umberto Fusco.
Earlier this week, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said that he is still interested in the Brazil international after missing out on signing him once before.
Melo left Fiorentina for Juventus in an £18m transfer last summer, but the 26-year-old has found it difficult to settle in Turin.
He was voted the worst signing of the season in December, although his performances have since picked up and he is still a regular for Brazil.
Speaking to skysports.com, Fusco said: “The words from Wenger are pleasing because they come from a coach of great prestige, but at the moment there is nothing more than mutual appreciation.
“Arsenal have followed Felipe Melo ever since he was at Fiorentina, but I think it is unlikely that they will open negotiations with Juventus.
“It is true that Felipe Melo is not played to his usual level this season, but the problems are with the whole team, so the player has not been a failure.
“Juventus have shown great belief in him by making a big investment last summer and I don’t think they are going to want to sell him,” Fusco concluded.
