Jean-Claude Blanc Under Investigation For Tax Fraud

Juventus President Jean-Claude Blanc and former incumbent Giovanni Cobolli Gigli are under investigation for tax fraud, according to today’s edition of Turin-based daily La Stampa.

The Republic of Turin Prosecutors have launched a probe into the Italian club’s finances after the authorities discovered that non-deductible transaction costs had been filed on liabilities, namely the commissions paid out to players’ representatives whenever their clients have signed new deals.

A subpoena was issued by prosecutors Vincenzo Pacileo and Marco Gianoglio to Blanc and Cobolli over the past few days, but they failed to show up as Juve attorney Michele Briamonte met with the authorities and agreed that the duo will present a defence in the coming weeks.

Juventus have insisted it is a routine procedure which pertains to the fiscal years prior to 2006 and 2007.
