Alessandro Del Piero is confident Juventus can qualify for next year’s Champions Leaue as they are only three points adrift of fourth spot.

The Bianconeri haven’t won in over a month and currently lie seventh in Serie A, but the teams around them are so tightly packed that one good result can change everything.

“The moment that we are going through is in front of everyone’s eyes and it’s difficult to add something to what has already been said,” Del Piero told Juventus’s official website.

“If we really want to push ourselves into finding something positive before we start training for Sunday’s match against Genoa then we can look at the table and see that the Champions League – even if it is through the unenviable route of the preliminary rounds – is only three points away. That’s one less than a week ago.

“I repeat that we are only talking about one push. And it’s a necessary push, because in moments like these it’s important to set yourself objectives, to hold on to at least one aspect that gives you the energy to change things.”

Del Piero was even self-critical of his performance against Livorno on Saturday evening.

“We cannot be satisfied with the point against Livorno, just as I can’t be satisfied with my performance. But now we have a fixed objective – finishing in the top four – and we are looking to get there as soon as possible.

“From this point of view, everything is still to play for and we shouldn’t miss any more opportunities to return to being protagonists,” he concluded.
