Caceres ‘heir to Cannavaro’

Martin Caceres will become a permanent member of the Juventus squad and “the heir to Fabio Cannavaro,” said his agent.

The defender is currently on loan from Barcelona with the right to buy and Daniel Fonseca is confident that option will be taken up.

“I really think that Juve will buy him, as they have already manifested that intention,” the representative told Tuttosport.

“He is very happy in Turin and I think he can be the heir to Cannavaro. I see many similarities in them, such as aggression and the desire to constantly improve.”

Caceres is out of tonight’s big game due to injury, but you can watch Juventus-Roma from 19.45 GMT this evening LIVE on ESPN for FREE.

Fonseca is familiar to Serie A fans as a former striker for Roma and Juventus, so he’ll be watching tonight’s match with great interest.

“In difficult times one always picks on the Coach, but the fault is down to everyone, including the players,” he told Tuttosport.

“I don’t forget the games against Sampdoria, Inter and Roma in the first half of the season, so I remain optimistic for the future.

“I believe Ciro Ferrara can remain on the Juventus bench for many years to come.”
