City target Amauri and Chiellini

Manchester City have invited Davide Lippi to sound out Juventus over the futures of Giorgio Chiellini and Amauri, according to Tuttosport.

City have been strongly linked with Chiellini since they were taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group in August 2008, but Juventus are unlikely to sell one of their prize assets.

The same might not be said for Amauri who has scored just four goals this season, all of which came in the space of 10 days. Before that he had been on a seven-month goal drought.

The 29-year-old earns €3.8m a year, which is a huge sum of money for a player who isn’t contributing in goals.

Tuttosport understands Juventus are prepared to try and recoup as much of the €22.8m they paid Palermo for him in May 2008.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is said to be an admirer of Amauri’s, because of his physical presence up front, which would work well in the Premier League.
