The Bianconeri were second-best against Chievo. Goal.com rates the participants…

JUVENTUS

Buffon- 7: Produced a wonderful save just 40 seconds into the match and showed no signs of rust as he came off his line to clear several counter attacks from the Flying Donekys.

Grygera- 5: Removed after 30 minutes.

Cannavaro- 6: Struggled with the pace of Granoche in the opening exchanges and also fluffed a couple of clearances. Settled in the second-half though and showed a more accomplished display.

Chiellini- 6: When called upon, the Italian international was able to deal with a majority of the Chievo threat.

Grosso- 5: Struggling for fitness, the left-back failed to provide any extra drive coming forward for coach Ciro Ferrara.

Marchisio- 4.5: A quite sloppy display from the midfielder, who saw his shot after a scramble in the area blocked on the stroke of half-time.

Felipe Melo– 6.5: A much improved display from Melo, who made a decisive clearance to deny Rigoni an easy goal and controlled the midfield in the first-half. Unfortunately, his blatant dive will see him miss next week’s clash with Roma.

De Ceglie- 4: Sardo skipped past the youngster with ease before giving Chievo a deserved lead with a low strike from outside the area.

Diego- 6: He whipped in a number of freekicks and seems to be the only Juventus player that could escape a marker. He can’t do it all himself.

Del Piero- 5: A few nice touches, but no real influence on the match from the World Cup winner, who was unable to repeat his feats against Napoli from midweek in the Coppa Italia.

Paolucci- 5: The recalled striker showed he was willing, but certainly is not the calibre of player Juventus need to get out of their current slump in Serie A.

Substitutes

Zebina- 6: You can’t fault the effort of the Frenchman, even if his understanding with Marchisio was woeful. Put himself on the line a number of times in defence.

Salihamidzic- 5: Could not change anything for the visitors in the time he was on the pitch.

Immobile- N/A
