The defender says the Old Lady can ill afford to drop more points on Sunday and talks of his pride at wearing the captain’s armband.

Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini has urged the Bianconeri to build on Wednesday’s win over Parma when Milan travel to the Olimpico this weekend.

The Rossoneri sit second in the Serie A standings, one point ahead of the Turin giants, who have fallen nine points off the top in recent weeks following a run of three defeats in four outings.

“I am very satisfied with Wednesday’s victory, because it was a great team performance,” Chiellini told Tuttosport.

“The key was our tempo and the commitment and spirit we showed on the pitch even after we were reduced to ten men.”

Uruguayan full-back Martin Caceres saw red for a second bookable offence during the second half of Juve’s 2-1 win at the Tardini, but Ciro Ferrara’s men held on for all three points thanks in part to their inspired makeshift captain.

“I am proud to have worn the armband again,” admitted Chiellini. “But now a great match with Milan awaits us…”
